Even in the winter months, it’s important to be aware of the sun. Specifically, it’s the ultraviolet light in the sun that causes skin damage. Ultraviolet A light is prevalent year round whereas the ultraviolet B rays will vary from season to season. UVA is present year round so it’s helpful to protect yourself even during the winter months. Not to mention here in Wisconsin we generally have snow on the ground that reflects the sun so we generally get hit twice. One way you can protect your skin in the winter months is to find a good skin care product that has sunscreen in it, you want to protect yourself from both UVA and UVB rays. Be mindful of the fact that SPF is only geared toward UVB, so that only measures it’s blocking power against UVB. There is sunscreen out there that protects against both UVA and UVB.
