October 16 is BRA Day: Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day
In the middle of Breast Cancer Awareness Month lies a very important day for the awareness of breast reconstruction after treatment, and a local plastic surgeon Dr. Merrick is aware of the many benefits of reconstruction. On October 16, Breast Reconstruction Day (BRA Day) is celebrated to bring mindfulness to the reconstruction options that women who have undergone a mastectomy or lumpectomy have.
Dr. Clint Merrick, of Merrick Plastic Surgery says, “As a plastic surgeon, I can help breast cancer patients feel whole again after mastectomy, and I want as many people to be aware of their options as possible.”
He performs reconstruction surgery on the breast cancer survivors after the mastectomy and lumpectomy procedures to help them feel confident about their body image after battling the disease.
Dr. Merrick is participating in the Real Men Wear Pink Campaign all October long to bring even more awareness to this cause. “The courage and strength exemplified by my patients is a constant source of inspiration. These brave women are the reason why I’m stepping up to fight breast cancer with all I have,” said Dr. Merrick.
